Small PlastiFix Kit SDS: White | Black | Clear
PlastiFix Blogs

The Polyvance PlastiFix Rigid Plastic Repair Kit is a revolutionary methacrylate monomer adhesive system designed to permanently repair, rebuild, and fabricate rigid plastics. Unlike standard super glues or body fillers, PlastiFix creates an incredibly strong, durable bond that actually fuses the plastic together. Whether you need to fix a hairline crack, fill a large gap, or completely rebuild a broken mounting tab, this kit provides everything required for a professional-grade repair.

One of the standout features of this kit is the included FlexMold molding bar. If you have a missing tab or a broken piece, you can use the FlexMold to take an impression of an identical intact part, and then cast a perfectly matching replacement directly onto the broken area using the PlastiFix liquid and powder. Available in White (2501), Black (2503), or Clear (2504), this system is a favourite among professional body shops, classic car restorers, and motorcycle enthusiasts.

Key Features

  • Custom Fabrication: The reusable FlexMold bar allows you to easily cast and mold exact replicas of missing plastic pieces or broken mounting tabs.

  • Versatile Rigid Repair: Excellent for repairing cracks, filling gaps, and even fixing stripped threads in hard plastics.

  • Multi-Surface Bonding: Strongly adheres to a wide range of rigid materials, including ABS, ASA, Polycarbonate (PC), PVC, PET, SMC, fiberglass, wood, metal, and glass.

  • Reinforceable: For load-bearing repairs, PlastiFix can be reinforced with standard fiberglass cloth, often creating a bond that is stronger than the original part.

  • Machinable Finish: Once fully cured, the repaired area is rock-hard and can be easily sanded, drilled, tapped, and painted.

Common Questions

Q: Will this work on my flexible plastic car bumper?
A: No. PlastiFix is designed strictly for rigid plastics. It will not bond to olefin plastics like Polyethylene (PE), Polypropylene (PP), TPO, or TEO, which are commonly used for modern automotive bumpers and dirt bike fenders. For those materials, you need a flexible epoxy (like Polyvance Flex Filler) or a nitrogen plastic welder.

Q: How does the FlexMold bar work?
A: You simply drop the FlexMold bar into hot water or warm it with a heat gun until it becomes soft and pliable. Press the softened bar over an intact tab or part to create a mold, and let it cool so it hardens. You can then place that mold over your broken area and fill it with the PlastiFix powder and liquid to cast a perfect replacement tab.

Q: Can I drill a screw into the repaired area?
A: Yes. Once PlastiFix is fully cured, it behaves exactly like solid, rigid plastic. You can drill it, tap new threads, or repair existing stripped threads with complete confidence.
